3 Signs That You’re Partying Too Much At College

Partying is a big part of college and there’s nothing wrong with that. As a student, you’re bound to spend a lot of time out with your friends having a drink, and more than once, you’ll end up having one too many and living to regret it the next morning when you have an early class to get to and you feel awful. It’s all part of the experience, but some people end up taking things too far. It’s important that you find a good balance between partying and studying so you can still pass all of your classes and you don’t damage your health. The problem is, it can be hard to tell when you are going overboard so you need to look out for signs of a problem. These are some of the common signs that you are partying too much at college.

Your Grades Are Suffering

The most obvious sign that you are partying too much is that your grades are suffering. In some cases, you may just be finding the classes hard. But if you got bad grades on your last test because you were out with your friends instead of studying, that’s a bad sign. Time management is one of the skills that you need to learn at college, and finding a balance between fun and studying is a big part of that. If your grades are dropping, you need to cut back on your partying and spend more time studying.

You Can’t Control Your Partying

Do you ever say that you’re just going for one drink, only to find yourself getting thrown out of a club at closing time at 3 in the morning? It’s happened to most of us in the past, but if that’s a familiar situation that always happens and you can’t control your partying, that’s a sign of a bigger problem. In some cases, it may be a sign of the early stages of an alcohol or drug addiction. If you really can’t control your drinking and you find that you crave it all the time, you should look into drug and alcohol rehab centers for help. If you can deal with the issue early on, you can avoid any long term addiction problems. But if you continue down that road, it will have a huge negative impact on your life.

You’re Losing Friends

When you started college, everybody was always up for a night out. But now, every time you ask people, they say they’re busy. It feels like people are avoiding you. If this situation sounds familiar, you may have an issue. It might be that you’re asking people to party every single night, but they’re too busy studying. It could also be that you make bad decisions like drink driving your behavior is pushing people away. Think about your own partying habits in comparison to the people around you. You might find that you’re always the one that initiates the partying and you always drink way more than everybody else, and people are getting tired of it.

If you notice any of these tell-tale signs, you’re probably partying too much and you should try to cut back.
