Despite how much fun it may seem to wait for Prince Charming (or Princess Charming) to come running in on his/her valiant steed, you’re better than that.

As cliche as it sounds, the right guy or girl will find you when you least expect it. So stop concocting love potions and setting up blind dates – focus on finding a good mindset and attitude instead.

1. Accentuate the positive.

It’s a given that if you are happy, you will attract happy people around you. Now, I’m not saying it’s possible to be happy every single day of your life – we all have the days when we wish we could just curl up under the covers and cry – but try to make the best out of everything that gets thrown at you. Smile as much as possible and try to put out positive energy into the world. After all, you’re a lot more likely to attract someone with a smile than a frown.

2. Be independent.

Nobody wants to date that clingy guy/girl who can’t do anything by themselves. If you’re not independent enough to do things on your own by now, it’s time to put on your big boy/girl britches and swallow a big dose of reality. You don’t need to have someone holding your hand every step of every day – if that’s what you think having a relationship is all about then you are completely wrong. Get out of your comfort zone and try something new by yourself, and you’ll be amazed how great you feel.

3. Move forward from your past.

No matter how much you thought you were “in love” with your ex, I’m sure it wasn’t as great as you keep imagining it was. That relationship is over, and it’s time to move on. You cannot find someone new if you are holding onto the memory of someone else, so cut your losses and move on. No time better than the present!

If you make these changes and actually try to meet new people, there’s no way that you won’t be able to find someone soon.

And even if you don’t find someone, don’t sweat it! You’ve got so many  more important things to think about.
