College Life Q&A: Staying Healthy, Happy and On Top of Your Game – Part 2

I am completely disorganized, do you have any tips on getting my life together?

I don’t know about your life, but I can certainly help you organize your dorm and your life (up to a certain point, lol). If your dorm, apartment or room is a mess, you need to start by cleaning it all up so you can finally get organized. Don’t try to organize in a dirty room, get rid of the clutter then move on from there. Once your room is organized, you can start with your assignments and move up from there.

I’m choosing housing and I don’t know if I should live alone or not, what do I do?

Living alone is a BIG step for anyone whether you are in college or not. You have to be prepared to be  ALONE, all day, everyday which can be hard on some people.

You won’t have a roommate to watch movies with, go to the mall or down to the gym with anymore. You won’t be able to go to the cafeteria with your roommate and you won’t have someone there on the weekends.

But on the other hand, you won’t have to clean up someone else’s messes, take care of another person or their possessions. You won’t have to worry about having guests or being too loud, walking around naked, or any of the other stuff you do when you are alone.

So you have to decide for yourself, are you ready to live alone? Here is some more information, pros and cons about living alone vs with a roommate: Living Alone or With a Roomate: Which is the Right Choice For You?

I feel like I never have enough time to hit the gym, what can you suggest?

Staying fit in college can be pretty tough for a lot of students especially because it seems like there is never enough time to get to class, do your work, eat, work, AND hit the gym!

Eating right is also difficult when living in the dorms and eating in the cafeteria. What you have to do is pay attention to the little things like what you are eating, drinking and doing in your down time.

If you are more conscious of what you are eating and if you make a little bit of effort to get moving during the day, you may find yourself losing weight without trying very hard at all!

How can I balance my roommate and my girlfriend? It’s getting to be a problem!

Managing your relationship and your roommate can be tough; you don’t want to neglect your relationship, but you also want to respect your roommate. It can be even harder when you are living in such close quarters with another person.

What you need to is form boundaries with your roommate. Make sure you are always respectful of his/her schedule/space and don’t overstep boundaries.
