Life moves on while you are busy living. There are stages of life to move through. Make the most of these milestones and changes by being an active part of the process. Read on for some tips on how to make it happen.
Find a New Home
There will come a time in your life when you either need or want to move into a different home. Whether you are moving into an apartment for the first time on your own after college graduation or are ready to move on to something bigger with Bentley Residences, you need to be mindful of your next step.
Finding a new place to live is an involved process. You want to research the area to ensure it is safe and has everything you want. If it does not, you should be comfortable with a drive to get to what you need. When looking at a new home, drive the route to your job at a few different times throughout the day, including the morning commute, the lunchtime rush, and the evening commute. Do the same thing for favorite or frequented destinations in your area. This will help you determine if the location is agreeable for an improved quality of life or if you will spend too much time on transportation efforts.
Next, look at the home or apartment itself. What is included that you want as you progress through life? Is anything missing, and can you live comfortably without it? Consider what you will look at every day through the windows of your prospective new home. Decide whether the view is ideal or a deal breaker. Take stock of how your life is now in your current living situation. Make a list of what you do or do not like. Take that with you as you look at new places to live to help in the decision-making process.
Find Your Passion
If you are feeling a bit lost, perhaps you need to find your passion. It is important to note that one’s passion does not have to stay the same as time passes. Aging, life experiences and new goals will all have an impact on what your passion may be. That does not mean that passions change with the wave of a hand, only that they can grow and morph over time.
Finding your passion can lead to new and richer experiences in life. Passions also influence career and location changes. Watch this video for a quick explanation of how to find your passion.
Find a New Career
If you have just graduated from college or an advanced program, you will probably look for a job. Perhaps you already have a job and are looking for more satisfaction and a greater professional challenge. Regardless of the motivation, you are looking for a new career. To accomplish this task, there are some things you will need to do.
As part of the job search process, you should check the following off your list.
- Resume – Updating and maintaining your resume is the most important part of any job search. Start by creating a general resume. From there, you can change it based on the job description. Add keywords or change goals and accomplishments that are relevant to the position.
- Cover Letter – A cover letter may be listed as optional on a job application. Make no mistake, however, always include a cover letter. Again, you can write a general cover letter and tailor it with keywords to match each job description. But, do not simply change a few words for each application. Use this letter as a vehicle to shine and show the hiring manager who you are beyond the contents of your resume.
- Thank You Note – Contrary to popular belief, thank you notes are not of a bygone era. They are, in fact, a special touch that will make you stand out from other applicants. When writing the note (which you can email), ensure you use proper letter writing in the form of a greeting directed towards the person or persons you interviewed with. Discuss a few points from the interview or things that excite you about the company. Sign off by thanking them for their time, and note that you are looking forward to hearing from them soon.
Now that you have some solid tips for getting ready for the next stage in life, it is time to make it happen. Participate in your life to achieve your goals the way you want.
