How to Throw a Memorable March Madness Party

It’s that time of year again when everyone goes mad in March over basketball. This year there is going to be some great games to watch as college teams across the country battle it out to prove they are the best.

Here are a few tips for throwing a March Madness party with a twist as you cheer on your team to victory.

Google

Stuck for smart recipe and decoration ideas? Google it. There are hundreds of sites that have plenty of team themed recipes and decoration suggestions. Also, if you are planning your party in advance, there are plenty of bargains to be found online in terms of decorations and party supplies. Your party shouldn’t break the bank so use the tool that is right at your fingertips for savvy shopping and smart ideas.

Mixed Crowd

If some of your party guests cheer for one team and some will be supporting another, as a host you have to make all feel welcome. A good way of doing this is incorporating all team colours in your decorations and food offerings. But be sure not to segregate the fans – you want everyone at the party to mix and mingle. So mix up your balloons/streamers/banners and also your food offerings. It would serve as a great deal of fun when a fan decked out in one teams colours takes a bite out of a cupcake decorated in their opponents’ colours.

Break The Ice

If your guests don’t all know each other, which is often the case at a party, you may want to break the ice with a little pre-game fun. Invite your guests over before the game starts and have plenty of food and drinks on offer. This will give your guests time to meet each other and mingle and when the game starts, all will be comfortable and ready to have some fun.

Comfort

Having ten guests at your March Madness party? Well then three chairs, a beanbag and a bag of chips and one jar of salsa is not going to cut it.  Make sure you have plenty of seating for guests as well as food and drink.

Be a Responsible Host

As much as you want to have a good time at your party, and you will, make sure you are a responsible host. Make sure to offer your guests drinks and food and keep an eye on the trash situation. If you see empty plates and cups piling up everywhere do a quick nip round and tidy them up. If you are having a larger party, ask a friend to help you with this task.

Also, keep in mind that if you are of legal age and you are serving alcohol – don’t get drunk. The host is responsible for their guests and it is your job to make sure everyone is having a good time. When the party winds down, you need to make sure your guests that are driving home are in a good state to do so or if a designated driver has been identified, make sure they have not been drinking.

If need be, make sure you call taxi’s for your guests. You want them to get home safe and sound.

And Remember…

When all the planning and preparation is done, your guests are comfortable and the game starts, remember to have fun!

Enjoy the game.
