Going to college is going to take a huge chunk out of your life. Sure, it’s meant to be one of the best times of your life, but some people have less than stellar things to say about it… And if you know you’re the kind of person who would be in this camp, it’s time to look into the college alternatives that are actually worth it!
So whether you’re taking a gap year and having second thoughts, or you’re midway through a semester and dropping out is plaguing your mind, or you just don’t want to head off to uni in the first place, make sure you’re looking into your options to proceed from this situation with safety and surety in hand. Here’s a couple of those great alternatives for you to choose from.
Take your future seriously, even if all you have is your tablet to work from!
Learning Online
Learning online is something you’ve probably considered in the past, but only semi seriously at most. So now’s the time to mull it over once more, to properly look into what you want to do from an online platform, and to find the best option for your time, money, and energy.
Whatever it is you wish to do, there’s a course out there for it. And you can find them with a quick search term in the engine of your choice, and there’s going to be more than one provider of them out there. So whether you’re looking for an online criminal justice program, or you’re just someone curious as to the amount of online colleges hoping to catch a few more fish from the web, you could find some real niche subjects here.
Find Your Work Trade
If you’re the kind of person who doesn’t like the idea of having to study for four more years, it’s time to get interested in moving into the work world. Don’t worry, it doesn’t have to be as scary as you think; after all, staying in academia for as long as possible is some people’s worst nightmare and they don’t realise they can move out of it!
So instead, look into getting a job or an apprenticeship, or otherwise making money off of your own back. If you’re an artist, you can build up your portfolio and go in search of commissions. If you’re want to be an architect, you can find your local building firm and ask them about their employment options, and whether you can intern for the necessary experience. Experience is everything at the end of the day, so build it up from your first day out of high school.
Always remember that there’s always an alternative to college out there, and you’re going to have the option to look into it at some point in your life. Having the confidence to move away from the crowd is something a lot of people wish they could do, so be sure you’re the one who actually does it!
