Gain Healthcare Experience
It is essential you gain healthcare experience when training as a nurse, because it will allow you to experience the busy working life in a hospital or practice. The more time you spend in a medical environment, the easier it will be to meet medical demand and the expected pace.
Workplace experience will also provide an opportunity to learn from other nurses, whilst identifying if you are making the right career choice. Before embarking on an academic course, you could volunteer at a hospital to see if you enjoy the fast-paced environment, or you could start your career as a healthcare assistant before gaining your nursing degree.
Select a Field
If you are training for a nursing career, you will be required to choose a field, such as midwifery, mental health nursing, adult nursing or paediatrics.
