It’s the most wonderful time of the year … SPRING BREAK IS FINALLY HERE!
Whether you’re heading to the beach or just hanging around your school’s pool this Spring Break, here are some rules you may want to consider following. Pull out those beach towels and beer cans and get ready to party!
1. Avoid the drama
Drama is the easiest way to put an end to Spring Break fun. Stop the shenanigans before they even start by taking yourself out of the situation. Lie through your teeth and accept and/or give an apology if you have to. If the drama is between two friends, try to get them to reconcile as soon as possible. Will you care about this fight five years from now? Probably not. Time to move on so you can have fun!
2. Watch out for your friends
We’ve all heard the horror stories about a friend getting too drunk and something bad happening. Watch out for one another! Institute a buddy system if you have to. No friends left behind!
3. Wear sunscreen
I know this is a lame rule, but seriously, wear sunscreen … especially on your first day out in the sun. If you don’t, you’re going to be a red, hot tomato for the rest of the week. Plus, you’ll look horrible in all of those Spring Break photos that your friends are going to put on Facebook the second you get back to school.
4. You’re being recorded
I know, this sounds pretty creepy, but don’t forget that in this day and age, cellphones with cameras are everywhere you look. Just because jumping up on the stage for that wet T-shirt contest seemed like a good idea at the time, remember that somebody somewhere probably is going to take a picture. And it just might haunt you later on.
5. Don’t drink on an empty stomach
Just don’t. Your body will thank you later.
6. Document your Spring Break
Sometimes the best moments are the ones that are unplanned. Take as many pictures as you can to remember what it was like to be in that moment. While you just might want to avoid posting those drinking pictures on Facebook/Instagram/Twitter, it doesn’t mean you can’t keep them stored away on your laptop!
7. Watch your wallet
There are two parts to this one. The first is to make sure you’re keeping your valuables safe at all times. Keep your wallet/phone/purse near you or locked away in your hotel room. If you don’t, somebody could quickly swipe your most important items, leaving you without money and phone-less for the rest of the trip. Now that would suck.
The second part is to watch your spending. As fun as it is to go all out on Spring Break, you don’t want to spend all of your funds on the first night there and have to live on Ramen for the rest of the week. Check your bank account daily to make sure you’re not over-drafting!
Here’s to you having the best Spring Break of your life!
